Mojo Bar-B-Que

The husband was on duty recently so I decided to go out to eat with my parents. We picked Mojo Bar-B-Que on University Blvd. When we got there they were packed, and it was only 5pm! The place was a little dark, so please forgive me for the dark pictures.

My parents got the 2 Meat Combo. They got ribs & smoked turkey with baked beans & sweet potato mashed potatoes. The turkey was thickly sliced and nicely smoked. the ribs were good but the meat was sparse. The beans were good but they have onions in them (we are big onion haters). The good part is that they were big enough to pick out, so my dad was happy with that. The star of the plate was the sweet potato mashed potatoes. My mom said it tasted like her sweet potato casserole that she makes for the holidays (which is a HUGE compliment!)

I got the Pulled Pork sandwich with Macaroni and Cheese. I happen to think that Mojo's pork is in the top 3 in Jacksonville. They give you so much pork in the bun that I have to take some meat out and eat it by itself! The pork is very flavorful and contains only a few fatty pieces. I usually don't use bbq sauce, but I love the Chipotle sauce! It has just the right amount of heat and tastes wonderful. Now on to the side item...the macaroni is my absolute favorite!! They bake the macaroni with bread crumbs on top, just the way I like it :)

Mojo Bar-B-Que has different locations, and I have eaten at them all. None of them disappoint. Mojo #4 in Avondale has excellent Shrimp and Grits. I highly recommend it!
