Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint
I was lucky enough to have dinner this week with the owner of Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint, Kevin Gartner. Uncle Maddio's is a new fast casual pizza place on the corner of Baymeadows and Southside Blvd. The concept is simple; walk up to the line, place your order, then they will bring it out to you in 6 minutes.
I decided on the BBQ Chicken Pizza, which has zesty bbq & tomato-basil sauce, mozzarella and cheddar, grilled chicken, bacon, red onions, corn and cilantro. I got mine on a wheat crust. Let me start by saying that this is a pretty big individual size pizza! I loved the number of toppings and the flavor was great. I liked that the bbq sauce didn't overpower the pizza, but added to it.
Ivan (the hubby) got the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, which has spicy buffalo and tomato-basil sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, blue cheese crumbles, celery and homemade ranch. I took a bite, and YUM!
Kevin (the owner) got the Steak and Blue, which has olive oil, mozzarella, blue cheese crumbles, grilled angus steak, roma tomatoes, garlic, spinach, fresh basil and balsamic glaze. He said that this is his favorite pizza on the menu and I can see why! Just look at it!
Get ready to be really jealous....we were also treated to a sampling of their many dessert items! Everything is made in house except the cream for the cannolis, which is shipped directly from NY. All of the desserts are absolutely delicious, you really need to save room!
Verdict: Loved it!
I really like the concept and the food is delicious!! Uncle Maddio's has something for everyone. They offer gluten free and vegan items in addition to their regular menu. And if you are not in the mood for a pizza, they have paninis and salads too! Another cool thing about Uncle Maddio's, they offer take and bake! I love this option for holidays and for a quick weeknight meal.
