Café Veneto
Sometimes you find the best places when you aren’t
even looking for them. I was searching online for something else and
came across Café Veneto. It was right near my house but I never knew it
was there. My husband and I took a trip out there
for a quick Saturday lunch. It is located directly across the Walmart
parking lot and is situated near a roundabout (the Walmart on Monument
Rd). It’s a blink and you will miss it kind of place.
We parked, went
inside, and grabbed a menu. We were both surprised
with how large the menu was and how much variety it had. I wanted
everything but settled on a Belgian Waffle and a Nutella Crepe (to share
with my husband). He got one of the daily specials, a Buffalo Chicken
Panini. Our food came out quick despite the woman
behind the counter being by herself that day. She delivered our food
and we were blown away by the presentation. It was absolutely gorgeous,
almost too pretty to eat. Almost. We were pleased to find that in
addition to the lovely plating, the food also tasted
great. My waffle had streaks of chocolate and strawberry sauce with
bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream on top.
My husband’s panini was pressed and presented on
the plate, and he quickly dug in. He commented on how good it was and
offered me a bite, which is a rarity. I typically don’t decline, but I
was fork deep into my waffle and didn’t want to
come up for air.
When we were about halfway through with our meals,
the Nutella Crepe came out. Just like our entrees, it was beautifully
plated. It had bands of chocolate and strawberry across the top, and the
inside was loaded with Nutella. The crepe
was firm and sturdy, but was easy to cut through. My only complaint was
that I wish I had ordered another one just for me.
As if we weren’t full enough, she then brought us a
red velvet cookie to try. I will never turn down cookies no matter what
my current stomach situation is. It was a very soft cookie with a light
cake consistency. We loved it.
Everything about this place made me
happy. I love how everything (except the ice cream) is home made. There
is a large dessert case next to the register and I can’t wait to eat my
way through it. Many different nationalities are
represented in this café and on their menu, so there is something for
everyone. I already know that this will become one of my regular weekend
spots and I am excited to go back to try something else. If you are in
the area, give them a shot!
